Applesauce Cake

1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 cups applesauce
4 cups flour
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp ginger
½ tsp nutmeg
2 cups raisins tossed with flour
2 tsp baking soda dissolved in ½ cup hot water

Bake in 10” tube pan at 350º for 1 hour or until done.  Cool in pan 10 minutes.
