Snickerdoodles

1 cup soft shortening                                    
2 tsp cream of tartar
1-1/2 cup sugar                                             
1 tsp soda
2 eggs                                                            
½ tsp salt
2-3/4 cup flour
 
Mix shortening, sugar and eggs.  Sift dry ingredients and mix into creamed mixture.  Chill dough.  Roll into balls the size of walnuts.  Roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon.  Place 2” apart on ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake at 400º for 8-10 minutes (lightly brown but still soft).  Makes 5 dozen.
