Spice Cake Frosting

1 egg                                                             
2-3/4 cups confectioner’s sugar
¼ cup maple syrup                                      
½ cup shortening
½ tsp salt                                                      
2 tsp vanilla
 
Mix sugar, salt and egg.  Blend in syrup.  Add shortening and vanilla, mixing until smooth and creamy.  Add more sugar to thicken or water to thin as necessary to reach spreading consistency.
