Fruitcake

Dad's Favorite

1 cup sugar
2 sticks margarine
5 eggs
1 pound candied cherries
1 pound candied pineapple
2 cups flour
1 Tbs vanilla
1 Tbs lemon
4 cups pecans

Cream sugar and margarine.  Add eggs one at a time.  Add flour then flavorings.  Stir in other ingredients.  Line bottom of pan with 2 layers of wax paper and grease with shortening.  Bake at 250ยบ for 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 hours or until done.

Beth says:  “The recipe doesn’t call for it, but we all know there’s alcohol involved!”
