Fudge Icing

Heat together 2-3 squares unsweetened chocolate, 3 Tbs shortening and 5 Tbs milk just until chocolate and shortening are melted.  Blend in 2 cups sifted confectioner’s sugar, ¼ tsp salt and 1 tsp vanilla.  Stir until thick enough to spread.  To thicken, stir over ice water; to thin, stir over hot water.
